Farm's self-titled album was recorded in 1971 and released the same year by this Illinois band. Private edition, recorded at the then famous Golden Voice Studios. The band, clearly influenced by bands such as: Quicksilver, Canned Heat, Ten Years After, etc., wrote 5 songs of similar aesthetics and who would have imagined that 51 years later their album would be reissued!! In these 5 songs the sound is blues, boogie and psychedelic. The Jungle Song that opens the record is a beautiful slow psychedelic song with nice psychedelic guitars and Sunshine In My Window that opens the second side is also quite psychedelic too, with more rhythm, beautiful vocals and guitars. The remaining three, Let That Boy Boogie, Cottonfield Woman, Statesboro Blues, move in more blues/boogie forms. Black and splatter (in 300 numbered this) vinyl release.

The Sensational Country Blues Wonders! "The Adventures of a Psychedelic Cowboy"

 

Gary Van Miert is the founder of The Sensational Country Blues Wonders! He is a multi-talented artist and his activities beyond music are many. But we will focus on the musical part of it. His great love is Americana, i.e. country music and gospel. In 2020, the band's debut album entitled The World Will Break Your Heart was released. The Adventures of a Psychedelic Cowboy will be released on 2/9/2022. Here, in addition to the country/gospel origins tracks (you know, it's not one of my favorite genres of music), he also experiments slightly with psychedelic elements. As a result we have some very nice songs like There's a Hole in the Fabric of My Reality, a very tripping sitar song, The Psychedelic Cowboy Song which is psychedelic pop enough that it doesn't stray from the Beatles, as well as the more pop/ psych Airwaves, Life is so Freaking Beautiful and the wonderful Music of the Spheres (again with excellent use of the sitar). In conclusion, on the one hand, we are dealing with an uneven album, but on the other hand, half of the songs compensate us to the fullest.

ASTRAL MAGIC The Mental Universe

The Mental Universe by the Finnish Astral Magic is an album in which Santtu Laakso plays all the instruments, assisted by the inevitable Jonathan Segel (I always listen to your first band Camper Van Beethoven with love) who contributes with guitars, violin, electric sitar. In this album the music is electronic, it's space, it is also a non-radioactive soundtrack which leads you to more inner situations and generally creates a feeling that immerses you in strange worlds. Fantastic Day of Wrath and satisfactory Desert Breeze, Web of Electricity etc. Electronic cosmic space music for all those who endure interplanetary trips! Hover.

THOUGHT BUBBLE Nowhere

Echodelic Records

The English Thought Bubble are back again with a new album, their third, this time for Echodelic Records. Chris Cordwell & Nick Raybould, the two guys behind that band, play electronic music. Electronic music with infinite keyboards to color the sounds, but with the use of real drums the sounds at least seem to stand more firmly in this world and are not lost in meaningless electronic egocentrism. If we keep in mind that this time they have the guitarists Shaun Bailey (Monkey Trial) and Rob Williams (Babal), actor Pablo Raybould who recites (Superficial, Control Your Own Story, Propulsion) and Laura Pickering who sings in the enchanting Cloud Bursting, then, yes we can say with certainty that this band stands out from all those bands that like to make pointless electronic soups for our minds. Listen carefully to Now Boarding, Distraction Engine and of course the Cloud Bursting and don't worry, your brain will not bubble!

 

 

The Telephones Prosaic Turbulence

The English Telephones were formed in 2007 in Derby and after reorganizations have become a band of 5 people. On June 24th they will release their new album (fourth if I'm not mistaken) entitled Prosaic Turbulence! The Telephones mix and unfold in a very beautiful and successful way their influences which come from bands of the 60s such as The Byrds, Love, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and The Doors etc. Of course they don’t just stand there but they also remember bands like the early Verve and Primal Scream and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. This mix of influences offers us some very nice psych/pop songs such as the Two Byrds, the extremely airy Orange Kind Of Green, the most hypnotic….. Hypnotized and the full of changes in the rhythm of Prosaic Turbulence, which closes the album. A remarkable album, which relies mainly on guitars, full of beautiful pop and pop/psych melodies plus great great vocals.
