The album of Mark Porkchop Holder is spectacular!
Based on the blues he recorded nine songs and enriched them with plenty of
talent and few but characteristic psychedelic garage punk touches, while I
think Velvets hovering around!!!! The let
it slide reprise no doctor is a blues song with recording that mights seems
as it comes directly from the late 50s, with guitar and harmonica, the stagger lee has its base in the stunning
blues as written by Zeppelin, but also has a beautiful psychedelic solo guitar
that lifts it up!!! The stranger is a
very good country/blues (americana
longer, since most people now avoid the word country!!!), the cover on baby please don’t go is standard, but
absolute marvelous! 38 is the most
"pure" blues song of the album, and there are and the more groovy headlights, my black name and disappearing (the top song of the
album). I think Let It Slide is a very good album and an opportunity to hear a
lot more interesting and more vibrant approach to blues!!
Το άλμπουμ του Mark Porkchop Holder είναι εντυπωσιακό! Με βάση τα blues ηχογραφεί εννέα τραγούδια και τα ποτίζει
με άφθονο ταλέντο και λίγες αλλά χαρακτηριστικές ψυχεδελικές, γκαράζ πανκ
πινελιές, ενώ νομίζω ότι οι Velvet αιωρούνται τριγύρω!!!! Το let it slide reprise no doctor είναι ένα blues τραγούδι με ηχογράφηση κατευθείαν από τα
τέλη 50ς, με κιθάρα και φυσαρμόνικα, το stagger lee έχει τη βάση του στα εκπληκτικά blues που έγραφαν οι Zeppelin, διαθέτει όμως και ένα υπέροχο ψυχεδελικό
σόλο στην κιθάρα που το απογειώνει!!! Το stranger είναι πολύ καλό country/blues (americana πλέον, μιας και οι περισσότεροι πλέον αποφεύγουν τον όρο country!!!), η διασκευή στο baby please don’t go τυπική μεν, ισοπεδωτική δε! Το 38 είναι το πιο “καθαρό” blues τραγούδι του άλμπουμ και υπάρχουν και τα
πιο γκρουβάτα headlights, my black name
και disappearing (το
κορυφαίο του άλμπουμ). Νομίζω ότι το Let It Slide είναι ένα πάρα πολύ καλό άλμπουμ και μια ευκαιρία να
ακούσουμε μια πολύ πιο ενδιαφέρουσα και πιο ζωντανή προσέγγιση των blues!!
