Menk are two
people from St. Petersburg, Russia and II is their last release at the moment.
Their music is drone, it is psychedelic, it has kraut elements, and it is
intoxicating and addictive. The
sounds first seem to swirl and become entangled in hazy guitar tones and later
erupt and alter our perceptual abilities. With songs like Блажь, Сон, Рассвет, but also Нарайана, Menk manage to
immerse us in their immensely magical world. Do i need to speak more?
Out-Sider
The Peppermint Trolley Co. from Californian was released their only album in 1968, and
also they had been preceded 3-4 singles.
Their music was a sunny blend of pop, baroque-rock, folk, but also light
psychedelic sounds. The band members were Danny Faragher, Jimmy Faragher, Greg
Tornquist, Casey Cunningham, and, for a time, Patrick McClue. Influenced by the
big bands of that time, Doors, Beatles, Stones, but also by the Beach Boys
vocals, The Peppermint Trolley Co. recorded 11 songs dominated by vocal harmonies
and of course the harpsichord, while pop aesthetics emerge from each song on
the album. Among all these songs of The Peppermint Trolley Co. the ones that
stand out and which gave them a good place in the pantheon of 60s psychedelic/pop
music, are Put Your Burden Down, Beautiful Sun, Sunrise, Fatal Fallacy. A highly
melodic pop album for which this reissue is the first official and is expected
to sold out soon!
