Orange Drop is a relatively new group coming from Philadelphia.. It consists of Marc-Andre Basile (voice, guitar), Anthony Bove (drums) Matt Calhoun (bass) & Peter Stanko (guitar). Their sound is a neo-psychedelic/rock, with amazing guitar, dreamy, stable! Take the necessary influences from the sixties and leave the guitars create exquisite psychedelic passages. Seems to have been steeped in the sixties sound of American psychedelia but not only because of the very good cover to Julia dream, the thing that comes from their sound is a greater influence of English sixties (and not only!) bands. For example the fantastic instro that closes the album (a release of 250 orange-of course, vinyl and cd) the if you feel it, with the guitar brings to mind the Pink Floyd of the mind 70s. Among all other song existing in this very good album there are two that blew my mind! Οι Orange Drop είναι ένα νέο σχετικά γκρουπ προερχόμενο από την Φιλαδέλφεια (όχι την Νέα!!). Αποτελούνται από τους Marc-Andre Basile (φωνή, κιθάρα), Anthony Bove (τύμπανα) Matt Calhoun (μπάσο) & Peter Stanko (κιθάρα). Ο ήχος τους είναι νέο-ψυχεδελικός/ροκ, καταπληκτικά κιθαριστικός, ονειρικός, σταθερός! Παίρνουν τις απαραίτητες επιρροές από τα σίξτις και αφήνουν τις κιθάρες να δημιουργήσουν έξοχα ψυχεδελικά περάσματα. Μοιάζει να έχουν εντρυφήσει στον σίξτις ήχο της αμερικάνικης ψυχεδέλειας αλλά, όχι μόνο λόγω της πολύ καλής διασκευής τους στο Julia dream, αυτό που βγαίνει κυρίως στον ήχο τους είναι μια πιο μεγάλη επιρροή των εγγλέζικων σίξτις (και όχι μόνο!) συγκροτημάτων. Για παράδειγμα το φανταστικό ίνστρο που κλείνει το άλμπουμ (κυκλοφορία 250 πορτοκαλί-φυσικά, βινυλίων αλλά και σιντί) το if you feel it, με την κιθάρα να φέρνει στο μυαλό τους Pink Floyd των μέσων 70ς. Ανάμεσα σε όλα τα υπόλοιπα τραγούδι που υπάρχουν στο πολύ καλό αυτό άλμπουμ υπάρχουν και δυο που μου ανατίναξαν το κεφάλι! Το εκπληκτικό make it her, forever και το μαγικά ψυχεδελικό the curse of kukaku, το οποίο με έκανε να ψάξω τα ακουστικά μου για να χαθώ μέσα στις ουράνιες κιθάρες του!!

JEFFERY LIBERMAN s/t - Solitude Within - Synergy

Ok, I didn't know his music, as when I had seen the double cd edition and I asked what this is about, I received the answer that Liberman plays hard rock! Just like that. However Out-Sider has released his three first albums (which Liberman had issued in his own label, Librah). As I listening them now realized that I had lost the opportunity to knew Liberman's music long time ago. The music which is a mix (especially in the first two albums) of acid/rock, ballads, folk love songs, acid blues and of course hard rock, songs that rarely written in the 70s (and more generally the sound was quite unusual for this decade!). For those who have melted in playing the vinyls of Bob Smith, Dr. Hooker, Marcus, and such other names, vinyls of Liberman go next in hearing!!! The playing of the guitar is really very good, the compositions step in the 70s but with a strong psychedelic acid rock nuance. And of course there are many songs that are masterpieces! The psychedelic ballad catherine with the wonderful erotic lyrics, the phenephe # 3 which begins with whispering vocals and moves slowly until it turns into a psychedelic delirium with acid guitar, the amazing instro tasty vertex and on the move where the guitars are exciting (and in this song), the more heavy in the measures of Marcus I can’t change, life is just a show, everything around us will be love and the magic acid blues woman. In conclusion, Liberman albums hide some exquisite songs-especially in his s/t album and Solitude Within!

Εντάξει, δεν γνώριζα την μουσική του, μιας και όταν είχα δει την έκδοση του διπλού σιντί και είχα ρωτήσει περί τίνος πρόκειται, είχα λάβει την απάντηση ότι ο Liberman παίζει χαρντ ροκ! Έτσι απλά. Να που η Out-Sider όμως επανέκδωσε τα τρία του πρώτα άλμπουμ (o Liberman τα είχε εκδώσει στο δικό του λεϊμπελ, Librah). Ακούγοντας τα τώρα συνειδητοποίησα ότι είχα χάσει την ευκαιρία να γνωρίζω εδώ και περισσότερα χρόνια τη μουσική του Liberman. Η μουσική του η οποία είναι μια μίξη (κυρίως στα πρώτα δυο άλμπουμ) από acid /rock, μπαλάντων, φολκ ερωτικών τραγουδιών, άσιντ blues και φυσικά χαρντ ροκ, από αυτά που γραφόντουσαν δύσκολα στα 70ς (όπως και γενικότερα ο ήχος του ήταν αρκετά ασυνήθιστος για την συγκεκριμένη δεκαετία!). Για αυτούς που έχουν λιώσει τα βινύλια των Bob Smith, Dr. Hooker, Marcus, και ανάλογα τέτοια ονόματα, τα βινύλια του Liberman έχουν σειρά!!! Το παίξιμο στην κιθάρα είναι πραγματικά πολύ καλό, οι συνθέσεις πατάνε γερά στα 70ς αλλά με μια γερή ψυχεδελική άσιντ ροκ χροιά. Και φυσικά υπάρχουν πολλά τραγούδια που είναι αριστουργηματικά! Η ψυχεδελική μπαλάντα catherine με τους υπέροχους ερωτικούς στίχους, το phenephen#3 το οποίο ξεκινάει με ψιθυριστά φωνητικά και αργό ρυθμό ώσπου μεταμορφώνεται σε ένα ψυχεδελικό παραλήρημα με άσιντ κιθάρα, τα εκπληκτικά ίνστρο tasty vertex και on the move όπου και εδώ οι κιθάρες είναι συναρπαστικές, τα πιο χέβι στα μέτρα του Marcus I can’t change, life is just a show, everything around us will be love καθώς και το μαγικό άσιντ μπλουζ woman.

Εν κατακλείδι, τα άλμπουμ του Liberman κρύβουν ορισμένα έξοχα τραγούδια-κυρίως στο ομώνυμο και στο Solitude Within!

STEVE HILLAGE Searching For The Spark

 Steve Hillage, was fortunate enough to release his first album as a band member entitled Arzarchel, at age 17, a psychedelic rock / blues album influenced by Cream, Hendrix, Floyd etc. Since then he released 7 more personal albums, he played with Gong, was one of two members of System 7! and along with all the rest, he was one of the guitarists who left a mark in the Canterbury scene! As you can deduce for yourself Hillage has gone through several musical genres, serving a progressive guitar sound. This magnificent release includes 22 cds with incredible material from his files, posters, books with photos and lyrics, unreleased songs, live material, and more! This release is compared to its historical value, quite limited, so make sure to go and take your copy quickly!!!

Ο Steve Hillage, ευτύχησε να κυκλοφορήσει το πρώτο του άλμπουμ με τίτλο Arzarchel, σε ηλικία 17 ετών, ένα ψυχεδελικό ροκ/μπλουζ άλμπουμ επηρεασμένο από τους Cream, Hendrix, Floyd κλπ.

Έκτοτε κυκλοφόρησε άλλα 7 προσωπικά άλμπουμ, έπαιξε με τους Gong, ήταν το ένα από τα δυο μέλη των System 7! και μαζί με όλα τα υπόλοιπα ήταν από τους κιθαρίστες που άφησε το στίγμα του στην Canterbury σκηνή! Όπως μπορείτε να συμπεράνετε και μόνοι σας ο Hillage έχει περάσει από αρκετά μουσικά είδη, υπηρετώντας έναν progressive κιθαριστικό ήχο. What a wonderful album this new release by Mega Dodo in 250 copies black vinyl!! Icarus Peel is a leading member of the very good psychedelic rockers Honey Pot and up to now has been released along with it, which called Forget-Me-Not Under Pussy Willow, other three albums if I remember well. Wonderful psych-pop gems like forget-me not, its raining, we came we saw intimidation, and sublime ballads like something i should say, melody may, etc. An album that flows very calmly and pleasantly in our ears! Psych-pop at its best! Also keep in mind that has been released in only 100 copies a limited edition with 4 cds in a handmade wooden box with all the other albums of Icarus Peel!

O Icarus Peel είναι ηγετικό μέλος των πολύ καλών ψυχεδελικών honey pot και μέχρι στιγμής έχει κυκλοφορήσει μαζί με αυτό με τίτλο Forget-Me-Not Under Pussy Willow, άλλα τρία άλμπουμ αν θυμάμαι καλά.Yπέροχα ψυχεδελοπόπ διαμαντάκια όπως τα forget-me not, its raining, we came we saw intimidation, καθώς και θεσπέσιες μπαλάντες something i should say, melody may,κτλ. Ένα άλμπουμ που κυλάει πολύ ήρεμα και ευχάριστα! Ψυχεδελοπόπ στα καλύτερα της! THE KINGS OF FROG ISLAND IV

Another interesting release for The Kings Of Frog Island. Continuing from where they left off in their previous album, record some new loud songs, full of hard sounds, but also record and three songs with some psychedelic glitter which emerges and fills our senses, the king is dead (with the ala Hendrix introduction ), in the watchers blood, shadowlands. The 9 minutes the night juno died weaving shadows is a dark in the limits of a dark wave song, while the 11 minutes long live the king is quite dark song much stoner, but in its sound coexist Cream and Hendrix. The track that opens the album, the tenth stone is too good and sounds absolutely like Sabbath!!!

Άλλη μια ενδιαφέρουσα κυκλοφορία για τους Kings Of Frog Island. Συνεχίζοντας από κει που σταμάτησαν στο προηγούμενο άλμπουμ τους, ηχογραφούν νέα δυνατά τραγούδια, γεμάτα σκληρούς ήχους, αλλά ταυτόχρονα ηχογραφούν και 3 τραγούδια με αρκετή ψυχεδελική χρυσόσκονη να αναδύεται και να πλημμυρίζει τις αισθήσεις μας, τα the king is dead (με την αλά Hendrix εισαγωγή), in the watchers blood, shadowlands. Το 9λεπτο the night juno died weaving shadows είναι ένα σκοτεινό-στα όρια του dark wave τραγούδι, ενώ το 11λεπτο long live the king είναι κι αυτό αρκετά σκοτεινό τραγούδι, αρκετά stoner, αλλά στον ήχο συνυπάρχουν και οι Cream και ο Hendrix. To τραγούδι που ανοίγει το άλμπουμ, το the tenth stone είναι πάρα πολύ καλό και αρκούντως Sabbathικό!!!

DATURA4 Hairy Mountain

After the great Demon Blues, our Australians friends are back with a new album which has the very nice title Hairy Mountain. Dom Mariani and his friends (Greg Hitchock, Warren Hall, Stu Loasby) recording another ten songs with intensity and with the guitars to give us some more loudly riffs. With such a past that these four characters have, they could only offer us songs incomparable enjoyment and clear raw power aesthetics! With the sound to be focused on the respective sound of groups as were the Stooges, the New Christs, The Exploding White Mice and a ton more Australian punk/garage bands, but also close ... indiscreetly the one eye in hard blues bands of the early 70, the Datura4 give us some songs that are bound to sound at high volumes in the different bars that play this kind of music and of course in our homes. Ύστερα από το πολύ καλό Demon Blues, οι Αυστραλοί φίλοι μας επιστρέφουν με νέο άλμπουμ το οποίο έχει τον πολύ ωραίο τίτλο Hairy Mountain. Ο Dom Mariani και οι παρέα του (Greg Hitchock, Warren Hall, Stu Loasby) ηχογραφούν άλλα δέκα τραγούδια με ένταση και με τις κιθάρες να μας χαρίζουν μερικά ακόμη δυνατά ριφς. Με τέτοιο παρελθόν φυσικά που έχουν οι 4 αυτοί τύποι, δεν θα μπορούσαν παρά να μας προσφέρουν τραγούδια ασύγκριτης απόλαυσης και ξεκάθαρης raw power αισθητικής! Με τον ήχο να είναι προσηλωμένος στον αντίστοιχο ήχο συγκροτημάτων όπως ήταν οι Stooges, οι New Christs, οι Exploding White Mice και ένα κάρο ακόμη αυστραλέζικα πανκ/γκαράζ συγκροτήματα, αλλά και να κλείνουν… αδιάκριτα το ένα μάτι στα hard blues γκρουπ των αρχών των 70ς, οι Datura4 μας χαρίζουν ορισμένα τραγούδια που είναι καταδικασμένα να ακούγονται σε μεγάλη ένταση στα διάφορα μπαρ που θα παίζουν αυτό το είδος μουσικής και φυσικά στα σπίτια μας. Τοπ τραγούδι του άλμπουμ το απίστευτα κολλητικό (σαν λουκούμι στα δόντια!) το uphill climb

ME AND MY KITIES Like A Dream Back Then & Is It Real Or Is It Made?

The Swedes Me And My Kites have released two albums. Their first entitled Is It Real Or Is It Made? It was released in 2010, while the second Like A Dream Back Then in 2012. These releases are with fantastic paper sleeve, in cds by the Greek label Sound Effect. In their first album they possessed by a more pop/folk hippie/prog mood compositions with many of the songs to be based mainly on the piano and the flute. Of course here there is an unbelievable song, a hippie melody in the style of Jefferson and Mamas & The Papas, entitled porcelain, the ethereal turn with the tide and the common life, a 10 minute song with several Canterbury influences! In the second, Is It Real Or Is It Made? without being particularly away from the sound of their first album, it is obvious that Me And My Kites have soaked their heads with much more psychedelic elements that are obviously in their songs like the dreamy back when I came, to all you’ll have etc.,of course they’re not missing the delicious hippie/psych/pop seductive songs like was it like a dream and the masterpiece the fortress of foreign legion, the caravello parallello but what I like the most and i put it on the top of them all is the marvellous rude, but beautiful!

Two great releases!!!

Οι Σουηδοί Me And My Kites έχουν κυκλοφορήσει δυο άλμπουμ. Το πρώτο τους με τίτλο Is It Real Or Is It Made? είχε κυκλοφορήσει το 2010, ενώ το δεύτερο Like A Dream Back Then το 2012. Αυτές οι επανεκδόσεις, σε περιποιημένες χάρτινες συσκευασίες, cd είναι από το ελληνικό label Sound Effect.

Στο πρώτο άλμπουμ οι συνθέσεις τους διακατέχονται από μια πιο ποπ/φολκ/χίπικη/prog διάθεση, με πολλές από τις συνθέσεις να στηρίζονται κυρίως στο πιάνο και στο φλάουτο. Φυσικά εδώ υπάρχει και ένα ασυναγώνιστο τραγούδι, μια χίπικη μελωδία στα μέτρα των Jefferson και Mamas & The Papas, με τίτλο porcelain, το αιθέριο turn with the tide καθώς και το common life, ένα 10λεπτο τραγούδι με αρκετές canterbury προεκτάσεις!

Στο δεύτερο, Is It Real Or Is It Made? χωρίς να έχουν ξεφύγει ιδιαίτερα από τον ήχο του πρώτου τους άλμπουμ, είναι φανερό ότι οι Me And My Kites έχουν ποτίσει τα κεφάλια τους με αρκετά πιο ψυχεδελικά στοιχεία τα οποία είναι εμφανέστατα στα τραγούδια τους όπως στο ονειρικό back when I came, στο all you’ll have κλπ, δεν λείπουν τα λαχταριστά χίπι/psych/pop σαγηνευτικά τραγούδια όπως είναι το was it like a dream και το αριστουργηματικό the fortress of foreign legion, to caravello parallello αυτό όμως που θεωρώ σαν κορυφαίο είναι το ασυναγώνιστο rude, but beautiful!
