DOG AGE Swanlake Gate

A real surprise for me was the cd of Dog Age, since to tell the truth only few times I dealt with them in the past. Wrong, very wrong since this new album, 26 years after the first, is a very remarkable album!!! With clear influences from English psych/pop of the 60s but also from bands like the Dukes Of Stratosphear, the Dog Age record a series of adorable songs. The song that opens the album, opening up the park, through the pop structure puts a great dynamic. The title, swanlake gate, sounding more pop than anything else, but its rhythm wins you immediately. The happy fowl stomp instro is a bit "funny" but a great track.  The phone poles has something in the line of bass and drums, which forces you to say yes, its pure psychedelic–rock, which takes you higher!! For maureen isn’t enough to say, only that it is probably  the best of the album, but also their tougher psych moment, hides an amazing melody, which reaches its peak with the next song sonatine a slow-moving unbelievable psychedelic creation, to me personally it makes me feel that I’m swimming on the grass. Great album!!!!

Μια πραγματική έκπληξη ήταν για μένα αυτό το cd των Νορβηγών Dog Age, μιας και για να πω την αλήθεια λίγες φορές είχα ασχοληθεί μαζί τους. Λάθος, μεγάλο λάθος μιας και το νέο αυτό άλμπουμ, 26 χρόνια μετά το πρώτο, είναι ένα πολύ αξιόλογο άλμπουμ!!! Με ξεκάθαρες επιρροές από την εγγλέζικη psych/pop των 60ς, αλλά και από συγκροτήματα όπως ήταν οι Dukes Of Stratosphear, οι Dog Age ηχογραφούν μια σειρά από αξιολάτρευτα τραγούδια. Το τραγούδι που ανοίγει το άλμπουμ, το opening up the park, μέσα από την pop δομή του βγάζει μια μεγάλη δυναμική. Το ομώνυμο, swanlake gate, ηχεί περισσότερο pop παρά οτιδήποτε άλλο, αλλά ο ρυθμός σε κερδίζει αμέσως. Το happy fowl stomp είναι ένα instro λίγο «αστείο» αλλά λειτουργικό. Το phone poles έχει αυτό το κάτι στη γραμμή του μπάσου και των ντραμς που σε αναγκάζει να πεις ναι, είναι ψυχεδελικό-ροκ που σε ξεσηκώνει!! Για το maureen δεν αρκεί να πει κανείς ότι είναι ίσως το καλύτερο του άλμπουμ, αλλά ότι αυτή η πιο σκληρή  psych στιγμή τους, κρύβει μια απίθανη μελωδία, η οποία φτάνει στην κορύφωση της με το επόμενο τραγούδι το sonatine ένα αργόσυρτο απίθανο ψυχεδελικό δημιούργημα που εμένα προσωπικά με έκανε να νιώθω ότι κολυμπάω στο γρασίδι.
